Hair leaders

It is said that due to the female vote it is now impossible to elect a national leader who is bald. The last bald American leader was Eisenhower and British Churchill, ironically at the time of their ascension tv was becoming accessible to the general public which created an entry barrier for the next generation of bald leaders to overcome. Male pattern baldness brings a stigma of foolishness wherever horseshoe heads are seen in the world. Past leaders have tried conquering hair loss but clearly failed as it continues to affect us all. Julius Caesar attempted various hair styles like comb over to hide the patch of skin on his head. Even in our anti-discrimination society the stigma is still unwashed and people discriminate unintentionally.

Donald Trump is among those with access to vast resources that America can offer, yet he can't regrow his hair. Treatment by the many experts as the vast resources can offer is of no avail. Expensive effort consuming tricks are used instead that mimic real hair. What seems to be strands of hair intertwined together to cover bald spots does its job of increasing Trump's approval rating.

Oh, I try like hell to hide that bald spot, folks. I work hard at it

It is rumored that Donald got several procedures done. Listed below are possible procedures.

  • Punch grafts (1970)
  • Scalp reduction (1989)
  • Left rotational flap (1991)
  • Right rotational flap (1991)
  • FUT procedure (2002)
  • FUE procedure (2011)

Trump’s hair procedures are like a walk in the museum reminding us of past procedures and how they evolved. Earlier procedures were the best option available at the time. Perhaps FUT and FUE transplant will be outdated and frowned upon in the future.

Baldies have a hard time getting elected, something the Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi knows despite popular views about competence winning votes. Berlusconi probably pays more attention to his hairline than the voters. Why wouldn't it affect him the most? Drifting hairline can only mean that there were several failed attempts to restore a natural hair line. Hair transplants are risky and bring publicity.

There was considerable opposition to Berlusconi's string of hair transplants from Bill Gates. Unfortunately the PM didn't respond to a fullhead who doesn't know what it means to be bald. Most full heads would argue that hair loss is trivial until they walk naked without their mane. Full heads fail to appreciate hair. Things that are usually taken for granted are not cherished.

Frankly in society today skill and ability are not primary considerations for leadership but secondary to looks. This has been on the agenda ever since youthful JFK beat pale-looking Nixon in the first televised political debate of its kind. At the time radio listeners said Nixon won the debate while the overwhelming majority that watched it picked JFK. Nowadays male presidential candidates are investing in hair transplants to further their careers. Not only are leaders tasked with running the country but are expected to have good hair.

As a rule, we prefer to vote for candidates we like over those we don't. Studies found we automatically attribute traits such as talent, kindness, honesty and intelligence to attractive people. It is no coincidence that 'attractive' political candidates received two and half times the votes of unattractive rivals. Surprisingly fake hair can boost attractiveness, no matter how informed or intelligent the voter is. In other words, working on your hair is cheaper than marketing your political campaign.

Modern voting is comparable to the practice of some American Indian tribes, who would elect a chief solely on the length of his hair.

Luckily, Baldness will only affect you, if you don't have something valuable to offer the people. Competent candidates can always find a way around baldness discrimination.
